free knitting pattern from Expression Fiber Arts
Love and Lace

This knitted shawl pattern
is made with an easy all over lace pattern
that shifts with the color changes.

This pattern is free for a limited time from
Expression Fiber Arts.

The yarn shown in the shawl's photo has sold out,
but any fingering weight yarn can be substituted.
Here is the delightfully named Page-Turner colorway.

Big, gorgeous shawl designed by
Vanessa Ewing

Free knitting pattern:

F767 Cable Edged Shawl

I made this magnificent shawl on size 10 1/2 needles with about 800 yards of stash Aran yarn (350 yards for the body and 450 for the cable and lace border.)

Due to the larger needles and Aran yarn, the shawl grew so quickly that I realized it was going to exceed the 70” wingspan in the pattern, so I reduced the body stitches by 32, which changed the lace border repeats to 28.
Width measured along the top: 78”. Depth from top edge to lace edging: 22”.
If using a light worsted yarn and size 10 needles, the pattern’s estimates of 70” by 18.5” are likely on target.
Well written, easy to follow pattern.
+++++++++++++++
Working with a slightly heavier, Aran weight yarn, so going up to a 10.5 needle to get the drapiness in garter stitch.
Liking this pattern a great deal: quick cast on, and easy to remember increases for each side. Perfect TV knitting.
